AML3D wins 3D printing contract with largest public utility in the US

AML3D has won a $2.27 million contract with power utility company, the Tennessee Valley Authority, for its ARCEMY X 3D metal printing system.

The contract, with the sixth largest power supplier and largest public utility in the US, will see AML3D supply a large-scale edition of the system, installing it at the TVA’s Muscle Shoal’s site in Alabama, providing it with additive manufacturing capabilities for its power generation repair fleet.

The ARCEMY system is a large, open-air metal 3D printer that uses wire arc additive manufacturing, and has a maximum print area of 1.8 metres by 1.8 metres.

AML3D CEO Sean Ebert said this latest contract win is part of the company’s US-focused ‘scale up’ strategy, leveraging of its recent wins with the US Navy’s submarine sector, and is now focusing on expanding into the US’s utilities, aerospace, oil & gas, and marine sectors.

“When we launched the US Scale Up strategy, back in 2023, our focus was on the defence sector, and that has already delivered close to $14 million of contract wins,” Ebert said.

“The next step in the strategy was always to expand beyond defence, so it is very pleasing to see our ARCEMY X system selected by the TVA. It demonstrates the relevance of ARCEMY across US manufacturing.

“This entry into the US utilities sector also supports our decision to further expand our US facilities, funded by the recent capital raising, to meet the continuing growth in demand and for our advanced manufacturing technology across the US.”
