Bisalloy specialist steels at 40 is going international

Australia’s only manufacturer of high performance quenched and tempered plate steel products, Bisalloy Steels, is celebrating its 40th year in business with a concerned international push.

The Unanderra, NSW company has built on the competitiveness of local steel manufacturing with a distribution push in South East Asia, the UAE and South Africa and an expanding joint venture business in China.

Bisalloy supplies mining, industrial and defence customers with its BISALLOY WEAR, BISALLOY STRUCTURAL, BISALLOY ARMOUR and BISALLOY PROTECTION steel plate.

Bisalloy Steels Managing Director, Greg Albert, cites the company’s innovation, talented staff and loyal customer base for its ongoing success.

Albert said: “Achieving 40 years in business is a wonderful milestone and as a company we’re immensely proud to have an Australian manufacturing base that produces world-class products.

“Our high-strength steels have enabled our customers to design products that would not have otherwise been possible.”

Empoying 80 locally and 160 internationally, ASX listed Bisalloy built on its expanding distribution by establishing a 50/50 joint venture with Shandong Steel in China.

After seven years of operation, Bisalloy Shangang (Shandong) is the sixth largest steel company in China, and the second largest premium quench and tempered brand in China for wear and structural steel markets.

The company manufactures in China and its 60,000 tonne a year capacity plant near Woolongong.

Its armour steels are increasingly being specified for military Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) and the Thales Bushmaster Infantry Mobility Vehicles in Australia, and internationally.
