The Bradfield Development Authority, which is leading the development of the city centre near Sydney’s upcoming second airport, has announced the Bradfield City Centre will get a new “scale up hub”.
In a statement on Wednesday, the development authority (formerly known as the Western Parkland City Authority) said the AMRF Connect hub has the involvement of Western Sydney University’s Launch Pad and the CSIRO, and “will help accelerate the growth and competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.”
AMRF Connect will be part of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility’s First Building, within Bradfield City Centre. The building is expected to be complete before the end of the year, according to its webpage.
The scale up hub will link manufacturers to “investors, research organisations and other businesses”, according to BDA, and its offerings will include “targeted masterclasses, networking events, and experts in residence”.
“Sitting alongside the unique technical and expertise offerings of the AMRF, local manufacturers will have unprecedented access to manufacturing capability and networks that translate to real-word production and growth for businesses,” said BDA CEO Ken Morrison.
Dr Marcus Zipper, CSIRO’s Director of Manufacturing, added that, “AMRF Connect is an exciting new pathway for businesses to access the innovation ecosystem, including CSIRO’s cutting-edge research capabilities and targeted innovation programs.”
