Cold spray additive manufacturing business SPEE3D will showcase its new Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) at this week’s Land Forces expo, which runs from Wednesday to Friday at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
In a statement on Monday, the company said EMU, a “complete on-site mobile additive manufacturing solution” combined an XSPEE3D expeditionary printer with post-processing and testing units, all housed in two 20-foot shipping containers.
“Land Forces is the premier exposition for defence in Australia, and we are excited to display our Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) for the first time at the event,” said Byron Kennedy, CEO of SPEE3D.
The ruggedised XSPEED was launched at Land Forces 2022 in Brisbane. (Click here for an interview with CTO and co-founder Steve Camilleri recorded at the event.)
SPEE3D also announced that it is continuing to partner with Defence to supply technology for Ukraine’s battlefield.
Defence has purchased three SPEE3Dcell units, which will be used to complement the previous three WarpSPEE3D printers purchased last year. The units will be used in “helping Ukrainian soldiers maintain and repair military equipment and salvage machinery.”
