A new Industry Trainer Program addresses skills and knowledge retention challenges in manufacturing businesses, according to TAFE Queensland and Manufacturing Skills Queensland, the two organisations partnering to deliver it.
According to a joint statement from the pair on Friday, the program includes a “self-directed, six-week online course with two optional one-hour virtual sessions each week” and is delivered by TAFE Queensland. It aims “to enhance teaching and supervisory skills” to help leaders train others in the workplace.
Rebecca Andrews, the Chief Executive at MSQ, said the program will be of particular value for emerging leaders, supervisors, and recently-promoted employees.
“This initiative addresses the industry-wide challenge of retaining skills and knowledge in manufacturing businesses,” said Andrews.
“By developing workplace trainers, we’re facilitating knowledge transfer and preserving critical in-house skills, which are fundamental to a manufacturer’s capabilities.”
Manufacturing Skills Queensland is an independent company, established with $16.5 million in state government funding, and is tasked with understanding the training and skills needed by manufacturers and their employees.
