Road signage company Traffic Technologies has been awarded a five-year contract with Sydney City Council, worth $3 million, to supply LED streetlights.
In a statement to the ASX on Tuesday, the company said the lights are “Smart City IoT”-ready, and would be used in the local government area for settings such as roads, parks, plazas, laneways and footways.
The contract – which would be worth up to $5 million if an option to extend by another four years is exercised – will provide for “bulk replacement of existing LED streetlights at end of service life as well as network growth, renewals and maintenance.”
The LGA covers the city’s CBD and surrounding inner-city suburbs, and contains “over 16,000 street lights”, noted Traffic Technologies, which is headquartered in the Melbourne suburb of Fairfield.
“The award of this contract to one of the most prestigious local government areas in Australia is a fantastic vote of confidence in the Company’s state of the art LED streetlights,” added Managing Director, Con Liosato.
“The length of the contract provides an opportunity for the Company to supply a range of additional products throughout the Sydney area”.
