UNSW, electric bus maker to begin sustainable transport collaboration

The University of NSW and Dutch electric bus company Ebusco have signed a memorandum of understanding.

Under the agreement announced on Thursday, researchers and students at UNSW’s Sydney campus would work alongside the bus maker’s engineers on topics such as energy storage and precision manufacturing.
Students would also have access to “scholarship programs, industry placements and internships” at the company’s Netherlands, China and Australian operations.
“This partnership draws on complementary expertise and we hope it will lead to new and more efficient ways of manufacturing electric vehicles in Australia,” said Professor Ian Gibson, Associate Dean (Industry and Innovation) at UNSW Engineering.
“I am looking forward to seeing the translation of UNSW’s research into commercial outcomes.”
Earlier this month, Ebusco announced a regional partnership with Australian Bus Corporation, stating that it would lead to the eventual manufacture of the carbon fibre-bodied 3.0 bus (pictured) in Australia.
