{"id":28375,"date":"2020-06-25T04:02:14","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T18:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/?p=28375"},"modified":"2021-01-14T13:24:15","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T02:54:15","slug":"naval-ship-infrastructure-steps-up-in-the-west","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/naval-ship-infrastructure-steps-up-in-the-west","title":{"rendered":"Naval ship infrastructure steps up in the west"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Western Australian government has released a draft strategic infrastructure and land use plan to guide the development of its naval shipbuilding and marine engineering precinct at Henderson south of Perth.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jtsi.wa.gov.au\/docs\/default-source\/silup-2020\/amc-silup-consultation-overview-june-2020.pdf?sfvrsn=4dee711c_4\">Australian Marine Complex Draft Strategic Infrastructure and Land Use Plan<\/a> envisages the freeing up of new waterside land and the creation of new wharfs and marine construction and maintenance facilities in the so-called northern and southern (pictured below) harbour areas.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest changes appear to be the ambition of developments envisaged in the southern naval precinct to support the government&#8217;s ambitions for Perth as the major centre for sustainment of Australia&#8217;s future submarine and frigate fleets.<\/p><div class=\"wooco-content\" id=\"wooco-491830454\"><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"wooco-1565104392\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/page.spee3d.com\/download-spee3d-heavy-industry-whitepaper?utm_campaign=Au%20Manufacturing%20Lead%20Gen%202024&#038;utm_source=AuManufacturing_campaign_1\" class=\"adv-link\" aria-label=\"SPEE3D_BannerAds-468&#215;60\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1.png\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1.png 468w, https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1-300x38.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" width=\"468\" height=\"60\"  style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<p>Proposed, but not funded, are new naval berths, a new fabrication shed, outdoor hardstands, breakwaters and a new large vessel dry berth, essentially a dry dock.<\/p>\n<p>Australia has only one very large dry dock at Garden Island in Sydney and a second such dock would support the basing of further Royal Australian Navy ships in the west, as well as the potential of servicing allied navies.<\/p>\n<p>Perth is currently home to shipbuilders Austal and Civmec, as well as BAE Systems which is currently carrying our major upgraded to Australia&#8217;s ANZAC frigate fleet.<\/p><div class=\"wooco-in-content-after-par-6\" id=\"wooco-699336727\"><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"wooco-337331009\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sew-eurodrive.com.au\/home.html\" class=\"adv-link\" aria-label=\"Auman_Second ad within content_Quality, Service+Delivery\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Auman_Second-ad-within-content_Quality-ServiceDelivery-e1713733941954.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"468\" height=\"60\"  style=\"display: inline-block;
