Advanced composites manufacturer Quickstep has notched up a new aerospace milestone, delivering its 200th shipset of wing flaps for the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft (pictured).

The Sydney company has a five-year contract with US manufacturer Lockheed Martin to provide wing flaps for the aircraft, which is in service with the RAAF, until 2024.

The company has also supplied more than 10,000 components for the F-35 Lightning joint strike fighter, manufacturing fuselage parts for Northrop Grumman and vertical tail parts, including skins, spars and fairings for BAE Systems sub-contractor Marand.

Managing director Mark Burgess said the C-130J parts had been delivered on time while meeting Lockheed Martin’s stringent quality standards.

Burgess said: “Lockheed Martin, through its support of sustainable industry development in Australia, allows us to continue to develop world-class competencies.”

The company released a video showing the complete wing flap production process at its Bankstown, Sydney plant and at Lockheed Martin’s assembly operation in the United States:
