It is available to read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csiro.au\/en\/research\/technology-space\/energy\/NT-low-emissions-hub\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CO2 utilisation captures the gas from industrial processes or the atmosphere for use in manufacture.<\/span><\/p><div class=\"wooco-content\" id=\"wooco-1037836900\"><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"wooco-1952043858\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/page.spee3d.com\/download-spee3d-heavy-industry-whitepaper?utm_campaign=Au%20Manufacturing%20Lead%20Gen%202024&#038;utm_source=AuManufacturing_campaign_1\" class=\"adv-link\" aria-label=\"SPEE3D_BannerAds-468&#215;60\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1.png\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1.png 468w, https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/SPEE3D_BannerAds-468x60-1-300x38.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" width=\"468\" height=\"60\"  style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a statement from the CSIRO, techno-economic analysis found \u201cCO2-derived products are currently more expensive than their conventionally-produced equivalents\u201d though all have \u201csignificant cost-reduction potential due to technological improvements, feedstock affordability, and economies of scale.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report noted current strengths including the territory\u2019s liquefied natural gas industry, export links with the Asia-Pacific region and high renewable electricity potential, noting the potential of \u201chard-to-abate\u201d industries such as the aviation sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CSIRO Research Group Leader &#8211; Geochemistry, Geosystems, Geodata, Dr Andrew Ross said <\/span>carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) was one among a number of critical pathways towards a goal of net zero by 2050 in the NT.<\/p><div class=\"wooco-in-content-after-par-6\" id=\"wooco-879081780\"><div style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"wooco-1122310526\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sew-eurodrive.com.au\/home.html\" class=\"adv-link\" aria-label=\"Auman_Second ad within content_Quality, Service+Delivery\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aumanufacturing.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Auman_Second-ad-within-content_Quality-ServiceDelivery-e1713733941954.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"468\" height=\"60\"  style=\"display: inline-block; max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ross said, \u201cThe proposed NT Low Emissions Hub could reduce existing emissions significantly by supporting the creation of new net-zero industries to continue beyond the energy transition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe identified five CO2 utilisation opportunities that could enable low-emission manufacturing and generate value for the NT\u2019s economy: methanol, jet fuel, urea, methane and mineral carbonates.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Picture: CSIRO<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CSIRO has released a new report examining the prospects of carbon dioxide utilisation in the Northern Territory, which will help inform the business case for a proposed Northern Territory Low Emission Hub (NTLEH.)
