$855K grant announced at A.W. Bell to support investment casting skills

A $855,000 Workplace Training Innovation Fund grant was announced today at casting company A.W Bell, supporting a project with the Chisholm Institute “to develop an Australian-first training course in investment casting and defence manufacturing.”

A statement from the state’s training and skills minister Gayle Tierney said the project would involve augmented reality to aid training in the use, assembly and maintenance of equipment. The training program would help boost skills related to investment casting and foundries, which the Victorian government considers a priority sector.

“This training will ensure we have the skilled workers we need to be a world leader in defence technology and manufacturing,” said Tierney.

The Workplace Training Innovation Fund supports TAFEs and training providers in linking with the state’s private sector, to “develop innovative new training programs, products and projects that harness the very latest technologies and approaches.”
