Advanced manufacturing an initial focus of new global talent attraction taskforce

Verwer’s formal title will be Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Global Business and Talent Attraction, and he will head “a ‘strike team’ to turbo-charge the creation of jobs by boosting our efforts to attract high value global business and exceptional talent,” according to a statement from federal immigration minister Alan Tudge.

Tudge said Australia was already well-placed to attract talent, but had become especially well so “ given our relative success economically, from a health perspective, and socially” and that this would “aid our recovery and boost jobs for Australians.”

The taskforce will have representation at the federal and state/territory level, and from the private sector, and will operate as part of the Commonwealth “JobMaker” plan.
