Circuitwise to make second NZ acquisition, gain third premises via ASL

Manufacturing News

Electronics contract manufacturer Circuitwise Group has announced its second acquisition in New Zealand in the last 12 months, with the Sydney-based company signing an agreement to purchase Assembly Specialists Limited (ASL.)

According to a statement from Circuitwise on Wednesday, it expects to complete the transaction in the September 2025 quarter, and to bolster its ability to deliver “high-quality, innovative solutions across Australasia.”

The size of the deal was not disclosed.

“Together, we’ll continue to deliver exceptional value to our clients and drive innovation in the  electronics manufacturing sector” said Circuitwise Group CEO Serena Ross in a statement.

Christchurch-based ASL’s CEO Chris Woodman added: “Aligned with our focus on  flexible customer focussed solutions, we look forward to bringing increased levels of customer satisfaction”.

Ross’s company announced last September that it would acquire Auckland-based electronics design and manufacturing specialist Nautech Electronics.

Circuitwise said that after the transaction it will operate out of three “highly automated facilities across Australia and New Zealand – Sydney, Auckland and Christchurch” and be “the largest electronics manufacturing service that operates wholly within Australasia.”

It intends to keep running ASL “under its current brand, with the leadership team remaining in place.”

Circuitwise was established by Roz and Greg Ross in 1987 as Tresmine, before being renamed in 2014.

Siblings Serena Ross and Sean Ross have been running the business since 2019.
