ASX-listed compound semiconductor developer and maker BluGlass has appointed Omer Granit, who is also a board member of Australian-born US additive manufacturing business Amaero International, to the board of directors.

According to an announcement from BluGlass on Monday, Granit is a US-based entrepreneur, investor, and lawyer, and replaces Vivek Rao, who is stepping down as Non-executive Director.

BluGlass said that Granit’s current roles include as Partner at EnPar Capital in New York, where he is investing across both private and public  markets, and that he brings over 20 years’ experience in “sourcing, executing, and managing complex transactions across the United States, Europe, and Israel.”

“Having engaged directly with industry leaders, I see a clear and compelling commercial  opportunity for BluGlass’ [gallium nitride] laser capability,” Granit said, adding that such lasers are “critical to the future of defence” and to next-generation computing.

“BluGlass is one of only a few companies manufacturing GaN lasers globally, and is uniquely positioned as the newest and nimblest player in the field, yet consistently punching above its weight.”
