Medical device and digital healthcare group Adherium has teamed up with US telemedicine provider HGE Health to offer its digital solutions to treat respiratory patients.
Pennsylvania-based HGE will evaluate and integrate Adherium’s Hailie technology to remotely monitor patient usage of inhaled respiratory drugs used to treat conditions such as asthma and potentially covid-19.
The company’s Hailie sensor attaches to an inhaler and monitors medication usage, while the Hailie app provides visualisation of medication usage and medication reminders.
Medication usage is uploaded to physicians via Bluetooth enabled communications to help them assess, manage and treat high risk respiratory patients.
The collaboration will focus initially on patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD) and particularly those at risk from Covid-19.
Adherium COO Mike Motion said “Our Hailie solution offers a unique patient and provider friendly solution to support remote monitoring of respiratory patients.
“We have ambitious plans with HGE Health to support extending our combined offering across the US in future.”
Adherium is listed on the Australian stock exchange, and has corporate offices, engineering development and manufacturing functions in Auckland.
HGE Care is responsible for the management of 100,000 patients in four states and is expanding into another five.
