AICRAFT and CONTEC space optics: Teaming up to take satellite tech to stellar heights

Get ready to watch the stars a little more closely!

South Australia’s AICRAFT has just teamed up with CONTEC Space Optics (CSO) to turbocharge space telescopes with some seriously speedy tech. Announced on Thursday, January 30, 2025, this partnership is all set to send edge computing modules into orbit, making ultra-high-resolution Earth observation not just possible but phenomenally efficient.

CSO isn’t just any optical powerhouse; they’re pioneers in peeping at our planet with advanced optical payloads designed for the kind of surveillance and reconnaissance missions that sound like they’re straight out of a sci-fi flick. Now, with AICRAFT’s smarts in AI and edge computing, they’re about to crank up their capabilities to warp speed. The mission is to compress and process heaps of imaging data right aboard their spaceborne crafts, cutting down data delays and offering real-time insights that are out of this world.

Dr Tony Scoleri, Co-founder and CEO of AICRAFT, couldn’t hide his excitement, “By integrating our edge computing solutions with CSO’s state-of-the-art optical payloads, we are aiming to set a new standard for satellite-based intelligence and imaging.”

This cosmic collaboration doesn’t just mark a leap forward for satellite tech; it’s a testament to South Australia’s rising clout in the global space race, securing AICRAFT’s spot as a heavyweight in high-performance AI solutions. Dr Youngwan Choi, the visionary CEO of CONTEC Space Optics, is all in. “Partnering with AICRAFT aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver groundbreaking optical systems for the global space community,”

“Their expertise in edge computing will enable us to enhance the capability of our Earth observation systems in our future satellite constellation for the benefits of our customers.”

Both technology titan companies have their sights on revolutionising everything from farming to fighting climate change, making this partnership a game-changer for industries far beyond the final frontier.

AICRAFT will design and manufacture an upgraded version of its standard Pulsar edge computing modules to support ultra-high-speed processing to complement CSO’s advanced optical systems.
