Air Fab has been awarded a $1.3 million contract with Boeing Defence Australia to design, fabricate and supply safety stands used in maintaining the Air Force’s Air Force’s F/A-18F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growler planes.

The business of eight specialises in engineering and fabricating access platforms, ladder platforms and workstands, for aircraft and transport maintenance purposes.

“Using their unique manufacturing capability, Air Fab will build five sets of aircraft equipment from its facility in Ferntree Gully,” defence minister Linda Reynolds said in a statement.

“Air Fab is an excellent example of the ingenuity of Australian small business in helping not only keep our personnel safe, but in helping to get Australia’s frontline fighter aircraft back into the air quicker.

BDA has partnered with defence since 2016 on sustainment of the fleet of 24 Hornets and 11 Growlers.
