Wire arc additive manufacturing company AML3D has announced a project with Century Engineering to upgrade the company’s robotic welding system.

According to a statement from ASX-listed AML3D on Wednesday, the order is worth $0.28 million and will see it retrofit its fellow Adelaide-based business’s older welding system to a newer ARCEMY metal 3D printing system.

This will involve “a complete overhaul of the legacy system to install modern Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing componentry” as well as replacement of the current software systems, and is scheduled to be complete “within the next quarter”. It includes 12 months of software support.

CEO Sean Ebert said: “Our ability to retrofit an older AML3D, robotic welding system and bring  it up to the specifications of a modern ARCEMY Wire-Arc Additive metal 3D printing system is evidence  of delivery of our broader strategic objectives.

“Expanding ARCEMY sales into Defence and industrial  markets outside the US is part of our broader strategy to deliver high levels of sustainable growth.”

Century Engineering’s clients are in the defence, mining, power and water industries.
