Electrical engineering business Ampcontrol has announced that its head, Rod Henderson, will leave at the end of the financial year, following more than 25 years at the company.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ampcontrol said that it has engaged executive search company Derwent Consulting for an internal and external search for a new CEO.
“Ampcontrol is well-positioned for the future. Now is the time to give the steering wheel to someone else to continue driving the vision forward,” said Henderson.
“Leading and working with such a talented and dedicated team has been a privilege. I am extremely proud of our accomplishments over the past decade as Managing Director & CEO, and of the robust foundation we have established for continued success.
“Reflecting on our journey, I remain impressed by some of our achievements and developments. Notably, we have pioneered world-first technologies and solutions in the resources sector and successfully transitioned to manufacturing intensive care-ready ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Henderson joined the company in 1999, was appointed CEO in 2014 and Managing Director of the Board in 2015.
Ampcontrol Chairman Greg Sedgwick added that Henderson had provided strong leadership.
“There have been many accomplishments in his career, including industry-leading safety performance, earnings growth, and positioning Ampcontrol for a strong position in a decarbonisation future,” said Sedgwick.
Ampcontrol was founded in Newcastle in 1968, and is the nation’s largest privately-held electrical engineering firm, with an increased focus on the energy transition. It counts 30 sites across Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mongolia.
Washington H. Soul Pattinson had a majority shareholding in the company since 2005 and announced in 2022 that it would go from majority to 100 per cent ownership.
Editor’s note: a previous version of this article said that Henderson is retiring. This was incorrect and we apologise for the error.
