Electrical engineering manufacturer Ampcontrol has launched a new electric vehicle charger designed to support the electrification of the mining industry, the Ampcontrol MegaWatt Charger (pictured).
The company, which showcased the new charger at The Electric Mine show being held in Perth, said the device was a solution that made electrifying mining operations a reality.
The Ampcontrol MegaWatt Charger utilises high-capacity charging technology to reduce charging time, and features dual-mode charging which enables multiple vehicle types to be charged via a single unit.
Until now Ampcontrol has manufactured rugged chargers that utilised Tritium and Danfoss technologies.
Ampcontrol Managing Director & CEO Rod Henderson said: “With the mining industry pushing towards decarbonisation and net zero targets, we have developed cutting-edge charging technology that balances charge time and energy management.”
The new charger powers vehicles ranging from light passenger vehicles, such as the Ampcontrol Battery Electric Vehicle DRIFTEX, to larger electric haul dump trucks, trains, and buses.
Ampcontrol has been supplying the resources sector with electrical infrastructure and service for decades, including its DRIFTEX electric vehicles.
Henderson said: “We listen to the needs of industry and develop products using our advanced technology and innovative solutions to support our customers.
“We are excited by the opportunity to showcase how Ampcontrol is challenging the future at The Electric Mine 2024 by launching the Ampcontrol MegaWatt Charger.”
The Electric Mine 2024 provides a platform for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to demonstrate equipment that can help reach net zero targets by 2050.
Ampcontrol Research Engineer Thomas Steigler will present ‘Managing the Electrical Demand of Battery Electric Vehicle Charging’ tomorrow at The Electric Mine 2024 exhibition.
