The federal government has said that it will open applications in November for Round 1 of the $50 million Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification Program.
According to a statement posted on the federal department of climate change, energy, the environment and water’s website on Monday, the fund will offer up to $25 million in grants in its first round, with these worth between $100,000 and $2.5 million each.
Projects must be jointly delivered by Australian and Indo-Pacific organisations, and organisations located in India, Japan and the United States of America can join as project partners.
Funding will support either R&D or feasibility studies designed to “develop more diverse solar photovoltaic, hydrogen electrolyser and battery supply chains” and must focus on one or more of the following stages of these supply chains:
Round two of the project is expected to open in the second half of next year.
Funding for the program was announced by energy minister Chris Bowen in July last year during the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial meeting in Goa, India.
Full guidelines will be released when applications open in November.
