Applications open for Tasmanian space grants worth up to $100,000

The Tasmanian government has launched a program offering matched funding between $25,000 and $100,000 for businesses working in the space economy.

The Tasmanian Space Technology Seed Fund was announced in November last year and is budgeted at $500,000, with grants awarded over two rounds.

According to a statement on Thursday from Nic Street, the state’s science and technology minister, the program would support companies “in research and development projects that seek to extend, adapt or develop” products and services for space.

To be eligible, businesses must by majority Tasmanian-owned, cannot be a “consultant or intermediary”, and have a project that runs no longer than 18 months.

Applications close May 31 at 2 pm.
