Applications open for X-TEND WA grants

Manufacturing News

Applications will now be open year-round for funding under the Western Australian government’s X-TEND WA, a grants program aimed at growing the state’s innovation ecosystem.

The competitive co-investment grants program offers funding to organisations delivering programs including those assisting in commercialisation, investor education, and co-working spaces and incubators. It formerly accepted applications within one four-week window per year.

Initiatives must be delivered within the state over 12 months, “contribute towards the growth of the innovation community”, and can be awarded up to $100,000 if successful. It is open to “all investor markets and industry sectors”, according to the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation website.

Innovation minister Stephen Dawson said, “Giving entrepreneurs, founders, investors and ecosystem builders the opportunity to apply for X-TEND WA on their own time means they aren’t in danger of missing a funding window.

“Successful recipients of the previous round were announced last month and included nine investor and entrepreneurship education programs who are set to receive over $680,000 in funding.”

X-TEND WA is part of the state government’s $25.8 million New Industries Fund (NIF.)
