Aristocrat’s strong recovery from Covid slump

Manufacturing News

Gaming company Aristocrat Leisure has reported strong revenue and profit growth in the year to 30 September 2022 as its poker machine and online gaming businesses continue to recover from the Covid pandemic.

The Sydney company reported operating profit up 20 percent on the previous corresponding period of $1.86 billion on revenue up 17.7 percent to $5.57 billion.

Net profit after tax was $1 billion, up 20 percent.

Performance was driven by exceptional performance in the North American gaming market and machine sales, defying supply chain disruptions and what the company described as ‘mixed operating conditions’.

CEO Trevor Croker said: “Aristocrat’s performance underlines the ongoing implementation of our growth strategy.

“Throughout the year, we continued to invest in competitive product portfolios to drive further share growth across key segments, deeper operational diversification and deeper business capability.”

Gaming sales more than offset ‘headwinds’ in the company’s Pixel Limited mobile-first game portfolio.

Aristocrat Leisure is a major investor in innovation including in its recently launched Anaxi business (pictured).

Anaxi is an online destination where players ‘can enjoy the excitement of online real money gaming with confidence’ according to the company.

Real money games are games played through online media in which real money is wagered on the outcome of the game.

Croker said: “While we are focusing first on the North American gaming vertical, we ultimately aim to be the leading gaming platform within the global online RMG industry.”

Croker also announced the company would set a ‘science based emission reduction target’ for the group in calendar 2023.
