Food manufacturer ARYZTA and engineering services company SDR Engineering are among Peel region companies awarded grants through Round 7 of the Western Australian Regional Economic Development Grants program.
Grants worth $1.17 million under the program were announced by state regional development minister Don Punch on Thursday at the Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre, which was one of the grant recipients.
ARYZTA was awarded $250,000 to purchase equipment to assess what were described as “new evolving technologies to measure and improve bun quality at its first Western Australian commercial bakery” located at Peel Business Park.
According to the statement, the funding will help “bring world-class industrial bakery technology… which adopts advanced Al-driven quality assurance, robotics, storage and monitoring systems for ingredient quality and biosecurity.”
The bakery is scheduled to be built in 2026.
SDR Engineering was awarded $210,000 to help expand and diversify its operations, moving into the manufacture of replacement spare parts for heavy equipment.
It will move into a larger premises adjacent to their current workshop at Waroona, as well as purchase and install a new lathe and gantry crane, and lift revenues by around 40 per cent by capturing “business that has been going interstate and overseas.”
