Adelaide defence manufacturer Asension has announced its first-ever export – a Wombat Smart Sensor Suite electronic warfare (EW) system.
The Wombat Smart Sensor Suite exported to the United Kingdom is a 19-inch rack version of the company’s sovereign, software-definable, intelligent transceiver.
According to the company Wombat is a software-definable intelligent transceiver to support user-configurable RF applications with high speed data analysis and monitoring.
The Wombat is part of the Asension Smart Sensor range of products.
Applications includes ultra-wideband radar for detection of concealed threats, cognitive tools for pre-emptive Electronic Attack, a high-power illuminator and spectrum monitoring for channel assurance and allocation.
Asension took to social media and said: “This marks Asension’s first venture into the international market and represents a significant milestone in our growth and evolution.
“This was made possible with the dedication and hard work of our exceptional Wombat project team.
“They have truly surpassed all expectations with their collaborative spirit and unwavering determination to overcome challenges, resulting in the creation of a highly successful product.”
Asension, formerly known as DEWC Systems, said Wombat emerged from its work more than two years ago on Miniaturised Orbital Electronic Warfare Sensor Systems (MOESS).
Last year, Asension won a $4.35 million contract to deliver a space-based tactical sensor system for use by the defence department.
Asension will be exhibiting at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) in September with Defence Australia and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
