Austal ship honoured by naval architects






The Auto Express 109, the first of a new class of fast ferry built by Austal in Perth, has been honoured by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA).

Designated by the company as Hull 393, the game-changing vessel has been included in RINA’s listing of Significant Ships of 2019.

Built for MOLSLINJEN A/S of Denmark, the $109 million ferry is a 109 metre long vessel with a refined catamaran hull that beings lower operating costs and a more comfortable pasenger experience.

It is the first built by Austal to feature two full vehicle decks for 425 cars, and the capacity to carry up to 1,006 passengers.

Christened the Molslinjen Express 4, the new ferry achieved more than 40 knots during trials.

The vessel was delivered in January, 2019.
