Australia Post and Alibaba aid businesses entering China markets

Australian and Chinese business groups have joined with Sydney entrepreneurial space Haymarket HQ (HHQ) to help businesses sell into Chinese consumer markets.

HHQ, a co-working space for entrepreneurs exporting to Asia, has teamed up with Australia Post, Alibaba Cloud and the Australia-China Council for its China Canvas Challenge.

The challenge involves a seven week online programme where entrepreneurs experienced in the Australia-China market will share their knowledge with participants.

A team of “China mentors” will answer questions and participants will have access to resources including news reports, statistics and white papers.

Alibaba Cloud will provide training, workshop programs and free credits for its cloud offering to help Australia’s local businesses set up in China.

The free programme aims to “arm small businesses with skills, resources, connections and cultural awareness, helping businesses to take advantage of the opportunity,” HHQ said.

“Businesses taking part, from anywhere in Australia, can hope to end up with a China market entry plan, empowering them to pursue business opportunities in the country.”

At the end of the programme businesses may pitch ideas to a jury, with sponsors providing a ‘business expl;oration’ trip of China to a winner.
