Australian made apparel group moves into city retail market

An Australian apparel manufacturing house which has largely sold through country retailers is breaking into big city retailing, bringing with it its much loved stable of Australian made brands including Rossi Boots and DrizaBone clothing.

Rural outfitters, RB Sellars has opened its first capital city store in Richmond, Melbourne, building on its extensive branch network across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria, as well as a successful online business.

RB Sellars, Rossi Boots and DrizaBone are now part of the Propel Group, which boasts of its largely Australian made credentials.

Propel Group Managing Director Caroline Elliott said: “We’re excited to be bringing the RB Sellars brand to Richmond.

“It is a great show of the confidence in our ranges across RB Sellars, Rossi Boots and DrizaBone, particularly given the challenging retail environment of the last two years.

“I’m delighted that these brands will now be easily accessible to Melbourne’s urban customers and we are sure they will embrace RB Sellars as Australia’s rural communities have for over 25 years.”

The RB Sellars brand started life as a small catalogue business with the idea of a hard wearing, well-crafted workshirt in a range of colours.

The workshirt has since become the Australian country uniform, according to Elliott, with over 200,000 Burton Shirts sold last year.

The range now includes functional and hard-wearing workwear for both men and women, with a range of pieces manufactured in Australia.

South Australian bootmakers, Rossi Boots manufactures boots in Adelaide and overseas, while DrizaBone has been making their iconic range of wind and weatherproof oilskins and dry wax coats since 1898.
