Filament-wound tubing specialist CST has displayed a collection of boat masts bound for the Tokyo Olympics.

CST (Composite Spars and Tubes) posted a picture this week of “a few hundred” masts, built at its Ingleburn factory for use in sailing events.

“This demonstrates our ability to scale up production volumes of carbon fibre tubing while still including a heap of value-adding features such as bonded fittings, machining and bend testing / certification,” said the company on Linkedin.

The Olympics are scheduled to begin July 23.

CST manufactures for various markets, and began in 1995 with a focus on marine. It has factories at Ingleburn and Kurnell.

According to a profile on Composites Australia‘s website, CST began when founder CEO Clive Watts “identified an opportunity in the high performance sailing market for filament wound masts.”
