Australian manufacturing leaders to share scaling secrets at Sydney event

Two of Australia’s most successful manufacturing entrepreneurs will share their insights on global expansion at the “Spotlight on Scaling Up” event in Sydney on June 25.

Alf Taylor and Nadia Taylor, co-founders of TNA Solutions, will deliver the opening keynote at the event hosted by @AuManufacturing at UTS Building 8. The husband-and-wife team has built their food processing technology company from a kitchen table startup in 1982 into a global operation with over 600 employees across 30 countries.

TNA’s remarkable journey reached new heights last year when the company won the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials category at the Australian Export Awards.

The NSW-based company was recognised for making “food manufacturing more reliable, flexible and affordable” and becoming “the single-source, complete solutions partner for food companies globally.”

“Being a homegrown Australian brand, we take great pride in our heritage and in bringing Australian manufacturing to the world,” said Alf Taylor following the award win.

The event addresses a critical challenge facing Australian manufacturing: the country recently ranked 105th in the world for economic complexity, behind Botswana, highlighting the urgent need to lift manufacturing’s contribution beyond its current 5.9 per cent of GDP.

The program features panel discussions on patient capital, clean tech companies, and addressing the “missing middle” of medium-sized manufacturers. Speakers include industry leaders from companies like Advanced Navigation, Finisar, MicroBioGen, and representatives from major investment funds including the National Reconstruction Fund, Breakthrough Victoria, and the Australian Business Growth Fund.

With Australia ranking poorly for economic complexity and facing a shortage of medium to large-sized manufacturers, the event promises practical insights from companies that have successfully scaled from small businesses to global players.
