Babcock to deliver counter-threat capabilities for the ADF

Australia has extended a Counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) threats Prime Vendor contract between Babcock Australasia and the Commonwealth.

The new three-year contract extension of approximately $37 million supports 132 different types of Counter CBRNE equipment, including explosive ordnance disposal equipment, unmanned ground vehicles and chemical detection systems.

Babcock supports Defence to manage existing, and acquire new Counter CBRNE capability, including equipment acquisitions, maintenance and repairs. Babcock also supports Defence to identify new C-CBRNE technology.

Since 2019, Babcock has created almost 40 jobs and engages 52 small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) to support the delivery of the service to Defence.

Babcock Australasia Managing Director Mission & Support Systems Richard Udall said: “National security has never been more important or more complex to deliver.

Udall said the company was proud to support Defence SMEs to deliver this contract, who in turn, support this key capability for the ADF.
