BIS launches Perth-made mine haulage truck.

Sydney mining services and manufacturing company BIS has launched a new cost-effective mine haulage truck, Rexx made by its recently acquired Powertrans subsidiary.
Rexx carries a 160 tonne payload and has a range four times that of conventional dump trucks. Operational costs are kept low by features such as smaller, cheaper wheels and tyres than used by competitors.
Bis Chief Executive Officer Brad Rogers said Rexx incorporated the best features of long-haul road trains and short haul mine trucks. “Rexx’s robust and simple design leverages our existing knowledge and resources. This has meant we were able to keep our manufacturing costs low, allowing Bis to deliver savings to customers through our service delivery model.”
BIS, formerly Brambles Industrial Services, provides services at 40 mine sites here and overseas. Its Powertrans factory in Perth makes Rexx and a unique Dual Powered Road Train. It purchased Powertrans for a reported $30 million.
The company recently raised money from investors to pay down debt and for expansion.
