Vitamin producer Blackmores has simplified its product offerings around the Blackmores name with the sale of its China-oriented Global Therapeutics businesses to McPherson’s Limited for $27 million.
McPherson’s, a once well-known Australian manufacturer with roots dating back to 1860, has been rebuilding itself in the health, wellness and beauty products fields and takes on Global’s Fusion Health and Oriental Botanicals brands (pictured).
These products draw upon traditional Chinese medicines with contemporary herbal remedies.
For Blackmores the sale is in line with plans announced to divest non-core brands.
CEO Alastair Symington said: “Fusion Health and Oriental Botanicals are wonderful brands which play an important role in the health and wellness routine of many Australians.
“While we have decided that Global Therapeutics is no longer part of our strategic priorities (it) will now have an opportunity to reach its true potential with McPherson’s.”
McPherson’s brands todasy include Manicare, Lady Jayne, Dr. LeWinn’s, A’kin, Swisspers, Multix Moosehead and Maseur.
In its long history as a manufacturer McPherson’s owned well known brands including Wiltshire, McPherson’s Press, Grosvenor and Rodd tableware CPS Housewares, and Crown Glassware.
