Bombardier takes Good Design Award in Design Week

The VLocity-VL80 passenger trains designed and built by Bombardier Transportation Australia for Victoria’s regional rail network have taken out Good Design Australia’s Best Interior Design Award in the Automotive and Transport Category.

The train, pictured above and below, were honoured as part of Good Design Week which covers 11 specific Design Disciplines, spanning 28 Categories.

The Jury praised the project, commenting, “Although VLocity-VL80 is a fleet extension of an existing platform, the Bombardier team have taken the opportunity and have made significant changes to improve the appearance, functionality and safety of the train.

“The team have researched and defined the most significant changes needed to address safety, compliance and user needs.”

The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) Design Award went to Rapid Shield by Space Tank Design for their medical face shield personal protection equipment.
