Buy Aussie Now shopping site launches with 5,000 manufacturers

Sports legends Ricky Ponting and Michael Klim are involved in a new website selling only products locally manufactured by Australian owned companies.

The pair are fronting the launch of the Buy Aussie Now site tomorrow with Australian-made products from 5,000 business in categories from wine to homewares, personal products, and consumer goods.

Ex-cricketer Ponting is showcasing his Ponting Wine brand on the site while Olympic gold medallist Klim is selling his men’s grooming products and toiletfries.

Ponting said: “We are very proud to be an Australian business using grapes from Tasmania and South Australia and a team spread across five states of our great country.

“Now is the time for us all to support and buy our own. We’re thrilled to support Buy Aussie Now and encourage you to do the same.”

The platform is free for Australian businesses to subscribe.

According to the website: “We showcase Australian ingenuity. We bring you tried and tested products and services. And we entertain you along the way with real, homegrown stories.

“Forever, we’ll be the first marketplace where everything is Australian made and owned.”

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said: “We know Australia’s more than three million small and medium businesses are the engine room of our economy.

“When you buy Australian made you’re not just helping the local shop, you’re supporting Aussie manufacturers as well as every business and worker in their supply chain.”
