Carbon Revolution looks to massive wheel output

Geelong carbon fibre road wheel manufacturer Carbon Revolution has given new details of its plans to raise output through the construction of new mega-line production equipment.

The company announced revenue down 14.1 per cent in the first half but said it expected growth in existing wheel programs and the award of new wheel contracts for internal combustion and electric powered vehicles in the second half.

It reported first half earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortisation as a loss of $8.9 million.

“The expected demand from the EV segment of the global automotive market is confirmation that customers see Carbon Revolution’s technology as a strong fit for this important and rapidly growing market.”

CEO Jake Dingle said orders in the second half would underpin a decision to invest in its first mega-line.

“Carbon Revolution’s mega-line technology has been developed using in-house expertise, equipment partners, and advanced 3D and simulation tools to reduce risk during design, construction and commissioning.

“The Waurn Ponds facility has space to develop four mega-lines each with an expected capacity of 150,000 wheels per year.”

Carbon Revolution is also designing a wheel for the helicopter sector.
