Former Western Australian MP Clive Brown has been appointed Chair of the South West Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (SW AMTECH) steering group.
Brown would provide independent advice to the state government via regional development minister Alannah MacTiernan, according to a statement from MacTiernan’s office on Saturday.
Bunbury-Geographe presented the opportunity to establish a manufacturing hub, the statement reads, co-locating “manufacturing, research and training for the purpose of fostering innovative opportunities for industry collaboration.”
The South West region is rich in resources, including the world’s largest known and highest-grade lithium mineral deposit, with this and other advantages such as available industrial land and infrastructure offering the potential for value-add.
