Perth-based building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) company ClearVue Technologies has achieved fire safe certification for buildings over 18 metres tall and in high-risk environments,
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said their solar glazing unit was certified under “stringent classifications for non-combustibility, little or no smoke propagation, and no flaming droplets” by TÜV SÜD under the EN 13501-1:2018 standard.
ClearVue Generation 2 Solar Vision Glass achieved A2-s1, d0 classification rating.
ClearVue CEO Martin Deil said in a statement that a lack of fire safe certification had been a major impediment to adoption of (BIPV) by the construction sector.
“The fire testing performed on our Solar Vision Glass demonstrates that our photovoltaic double glazing unit meets the same fire classification ratings as standard glazing units,” said Dell.
“It is extremely rare, if not unheard of, for building integrated photovoltaic façade solutions to achieve fire safety ratings of these exhaustive and exacting standards. With this certification, ClearVue Solar Vision Glass can be used in a broad range of buildings due to its excellent fire safety performance.
Last month the company announced a three-year deal on its glazing units with Safety Glass, representing Clearvue’s first manufacturing and distribution deal in its home country.
