Additive manufacturing companies Conflux Technology and GKN Additive have announced a partnership on heat exchanger design, development and production in Europe.

In a short statement on Thursday (Australian time) Conflux – a Geelong-headquartered specialist in heat exchanger solutions using AM – said it was combining its design and development expertise with GKN Additive’s extensive experience in high-volume production for automotive, aerospace and industrial customers.

“Its capability to manufacture large volume orders in Europe is a perfect fit for our EU customers looking for serial production near point of use,” said Conflux’s founder and CEO Michael Fuller.

“Being able to provide our technology to their vast array of top tier and technologically advanced customers is already proving fruitful”

GKN Additive is a business of GKN Powder Metallurgy, a powder development, digital metal processing and engineering business with manufacturing at 28 sites globally, according to its website, and output of 300,000 tonnes of powder annually.

John Dulchinos, President of GKN Additive, said that heat exchangers and thermal management were “key areas” where AM was providing high-value solutions.

“Combining forces with industry application experts such as Conflux enables us to provide best-in-class solutions to our customers,” added Dulchinos.

Conflux is based at Deakin University’s Manufutures innovation hub at Waurn Ponds and has a presence in the US, Europe, and EMEA.

In October last year it announced the successful close of an $8.5 million investment round, backed by Germany’s AM ventures and Australia’s Acorn Capital, to grow its team and its fleet of production machinery.
