CSIRO names new Director of Manufacturing

Dr Marcus Zipper will begin as Director of Manufacturing at the CSIRO on August 1, replacing Dr Keith McLean.

The appointment was announced on Monday by the organisation, which also named Professor John Whittle as upcoming head of its data science division, Data61.

Zipper is a materials scientist and engineer by training, and has been at CSIRO nearly two decades, including in the roles of Director of the Challenges and Digital Transformation program, and Director of CSIRO Services.

“Marcus is well-positioned to help Australia harness the many opportunities for growth in Australia’s manufacturing industry,” said the organisation’s CEO, Dr Larry Marshall, in a statement.
