Defence offers grants of up to $1 million to SMEs.

The federal government has announced a new grants scheme offering up to $1 million for projects that help meet Australia’s defence industrial capability priorities.

The government’s Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grants scheme aims to build the capacity and resilience of Australian small-to-medium sized business.

Grants may be used to fund capital equipment (including specialist software and security infrastructure), design and engineering, or workforce training and accreditations.

Grants range from $50,000 to $1 million and are provided on a 50:50 matched funding basis. Up to $17 million will be available each year.

SMEs can apply for grants for projects in areas ranging from submarine support and shipbuilding, to land combat vehicles, radars, combat clothing, signal processing, systems assurance and munitions.
