Deloitte selected on proposed Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub at Bunbury

The Western Australian government has announced that it is moving forward with planning for the proposed Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub (AMTECH), with Deloitte the successful tenderer to deliver a detailed feasibility study and business case.

According to a statement on Tuesday, the appointment of the Big Four firm represents a next step towards “a world-class hub in the Bunbury-Geographe area” that could unlock opportunities for the state’s south-west.

Deloitte will investigate the preferred model, location, structure, and services for AMTECH, and a detailed project plan would be carried out.

The South West Development Commission is the lead agency for the proposal, working directly with the consultant, industry and other stakeholders.

“This announcement is an exciting step towards delivering an advanced manufacturing and technology hub for Bunbury and the wider region,” said Clive Brown, who was appointed Chair of the SW AMTECH steering group last November.

“I look forward to working closely with government, industry and the local community to unlock the potential of the South-West’s manufacturing sector through the AMTECH project.”

Planning efforts have so far included a preliminary assessment report to identify key areas of focus, following industry consultation.

According to the WA government, establishing an AMTECH common-user facility would provide competitiveness benefits through access to infrastructure, technology, training and research.
