A newly-completed $75 million canning line at Richlands is the biggest in its network, according to beverage company Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia (CCEP), and is set to “significantly increase production” of the highly-caffeinated Monster Energy Company drinks.
According to a statement from CCEP on Friday, the new line was built over an 18-month period, supported by over 250 contractors.
It is capable of 120,000 cans per hour and will meet “surging consumer demand” for Monster and Mother brand energy drinks, as well as cans of other beverages including Coca-Cola (pictured), Sprite and Fanta. CCEP said the ability to fill at room temperature meant a 23 per cent energy saving annually versus its other lines.
The $75 million investment was mentioned in an update from the company last October for a then-new $22.2 million line, said to be the “most efficient can line to date” at the site.
Orlando Rodriguez, Managing Director of CCEP, said that the company’s manufacturing philosophy is based on “making it where we sell it”, limiting transport and environmental impact.
“We have a long history of manufacturing in Australia – nearly 90 years – and we continue to invest heavily in our operations,” said Rodriguez.
“Richlands is our largest manufacturing site in our Australian network and now it is home to our most efficient and largest canning line to date in our global network, bolstering Queensland’s thriving manufacturing industry and supporting Aussie jobs.”
The company said operation of the line has created 18 new jobs onsite.
