Ego Pharmaceuticals boosts local skincare manufacturing

Australian skincare maker Ego Pharmaceuticals is doubling local production following a $156 million investment in its local manufacturing.

It has officially opened its new facility in Victoria, which includes new cream filling lines, a state-of-the-art Zorzi Innovation Centre (ZInC), a sustainability project, and expanded warehousing.

Ego is known for its QV brand, which was rated as Australia’s top skincare brand according to sales.

Ego said this latest investment will help create 90 new jobs across its facilities in Braeside and Dandenong South.

The company said the $156 million investment will also help to double its annual production capacity, which reached more than 33 million units last year, while also reinforcing its sustainability, having already reduced its carbon emissions by nearly a third since 2019.

“We’re incredibly proud to officially open these new facilities, which represent a major step forward not just for Ego Pharmaceuticals, but for Australian manufacturing more broadly,” said Ego Pharmaceuticals managing director, Alan Oppenheim (pictured.)

“While the majority of global skincare companies manufacture offshore, we’ve chosen a different path; one that backs Australian jobs, science and ingenuity. This investment is more than steel and machinery. It’s a long-term vote of confidence in what Australian expertise can deliver on a global stage.”

Victorian premier Jacinta Allan said this investment demonstrates the state’s ongoing commitment to manufacturing.

“Victoria’s health tech sector is thriving, and this redevelopment project is a prime example. We backed Ego Pharmaceuticals to grow because we know investments like this mean more local jobs, more exports, and a stronger economy,” she said.
