EM Solutions in new deal with with defence giant

Radio and satellite communications equipment manufacturer EM Solutions has won a $6.5 million order from the French Thales defence group for an unspecified connectivity project.

The deal, the latest in the two companies commercial relationships which were formalised in a framework agreement in 2016, is for satellite radio systems.

The Brisbane company will supply its Cobra M2 Maritime Satcom Terminal which has successfully completed the testing and certification process and are now able to operate at Ka-Band on the WGS Satellite Network.

Testing was completed by the Australian Certification Authority.

Since reaching its initial agreement EM Solutions has had a number of successes selling into Thales through its global supply chain team.

Thales’ Anne Munro said: “Thales has built trust with EM Solutions over an extended period and it is as a result of good communications and its proven track record that Thales has the confidence in EM Solutions to deliver”

The company won Thales Australia’s Supplier of the Year award earlier this year for Export Achievement.

Dr. Rowan Gilmore, CEO, said the company had been able to expand its test and assembly facilities because of its sales to Thales.

He said: “Because of this business, EM Solutions has expanded its capacity, purchased additional equipment and hired new staff to meet delivery requirements.

“We are delighted to extend our near-decade long track record in working with Thales globally.”

EM Solutions Cobra X/Ka tri-band Maritime Satellite Terminal is operational on a number of different classes of Navy vessels both in Australia and internationally.
