EM Solutions wins $15m NATO contract

Electro Optic Systems subsidiary EM Solutions has won a $15 million contract to supply communications equipment to NATO navies.

The Brisbane company won orders to supply its new 2-metre Fleet Satellite Communications Terminals to three leading NATO navies.

To be fitted to frigates and warships from 2022, the order takes EM Solutions order book to $38 million.

The terminal is a variant of the maritime communications terminal being developed for the Royal Australian Navy.

NATO navies already operate the company’s 1-metre Cobra terminals.

With its larger antenna the new systems will operate in both X- and Ka- and commercial satellite bands and will be capable of supporting higher data traffic.

According to the company it will be ‘the most resilient on the market’.

EM Solutions CEO Rowan Gilmore said: “This new capability will bring robust and secure communications into the very core of their fleets.”
