Communications, space and defence group Electro Optic systems (ASX: EOS) will supply remotely operated weapons systems for Australia’s Boxer CRV armoured reconnaissance vehicles following the execution of a $49 million contact.
The contract, announced in August, was signed by the defence department two days ago.
It allows for the development, integration and testing of the R-400S weapons system on Boxer and the supply of 82 systems beginning in 2022.
The system mounts a variety of weapons from machine guns to lightweight cannon and anti-tank missiles, and can be operated by crew from inside the safety of their vehicle.
EOS systems are mounted on a variety of Australian military vehicles and have been sold to countries including he United States and the UAE.
