First Graphene provides facemask materials

New materials developer First Graphene will supply its PureGRAPH graphene product to improve the performance of face masks (pictured) manufactured by planarTECH Holdings.

The Perth company will supply the graphene coating to provide anti-static and bacteria resistant properties to the masks, as well as investigating the use of graphene in other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Graphene is a form of carbon which is finding uses in coatings and paints, flexible electronics and sensor systems.

First Graphene told investors that PureGRAPH products have been proven successful in dispersing into polymer coatings such as used in the masks.

Following testing the two companies will decide whether to proceed with a commercial arrangement to market the new products.

First Graphene manufactures at a facility at Henderson south of Perth.
