Fleet Space to build ‘hyper factory’ at Adelaide Airport

Satellite manufacturer and space-based mineral detection company Fleet Space Technologies is constructing a new global headquarters and space tech ‘hyper factory’.

The 5300 square meter facility, located at Adelaide Airport, is designed to accelerate production of Fleet’s space technologies.

In December, the company closed a major capital raising, of $150 million, to invest in its development.

The new hyper factory will feature advanced manufacturing capabilities, providing production capacity to make thousands of smart sensors and hundreds of satellites annually, Fleet claims.

The site includes search and development labs, 3D printing technologies, data centre infrastructure, and central operations for the company’s satellite network in low Earth orbit and its end-to-end mineral exploration platform, ExoSphere.

“Today marks a significant leap into the future for Fleet Space and Australian innovation, as we continue our mission to build revolutionary frontier technologies that address the dual challenges of climate change and space exploration, from the heart of South Australia,” Co-Founder & CEO, Flavia Tata Nardini said.

“The tremendous evolution of Australia’s innovation ecosystem charts a clear path for Australia’s ascendancy in space, climate technologies, and artificial intelligence. With our new GHQ at Adelaide Airport, we’re strategically positioned to continue our exponential growth and development of cutting-edge technologies.”

Chief Exploration Officer Matt Pearson said this new global headquarters and factory is a forerunner for the next-gen, vertically integrated manufacturing model that can combine AI-powered technologies needed to support greater decarbonisation.
